2021 PCHS Band Registration and Audition Info

Dear New and Current PCHS Band Members,

We are excited to welcome you as a new member or welcome you back as a returning member of the Paulding County High School “Pride of Paulding” for the 2021-2022 school year.  We have an exciting year planned and are excited for the possibilities of a new year and continuing to uphold the tradition of excellence that has been established at Paulding County High School.

May Band Booster Meeting- There is a mandatory meeting for all band students who will be part of the 2021-2022 band program.  Returning members will meet Tuesday, May 18 at 6:00 PM in the PCHS Auditorium.  Rookie members will meet Thursday, May 20 at 6:00 PM in the PCHS Auditorium   All students must bring at least one parent to the meeting. 

At this meeting, we will give you all of the pertinent information about participation the bands for the upcoming school year.  Topics will include band policies, related fees, and we will reveal the show concept for the 2021 season.  Please bring the required forms completed and signed to help speed up the process.

Audition Information

All returning and prospective band members are required to complete a successful class placement audition to participate in either the Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble.  All other students will be placed in the Concert Band.  Auditions for current band members will be conducted during class time.  New members will register to audition on either April 13 or April 15 from 4-6 PM.

 

Winds

  • As many major scales and arpeggios as you can perform in 3 minutes (GMEA format)

  • Full range chromatic scale

Percussion

  • As many major scales and arpeggios as you can perform in 3 minutes on a mallet percussion instrument (GMEA format)

  • Full range chromatic scale on a mallet percussion instrument

  • The following rudiments on a snare drum (GMEA format)

    • Multiple Bounce Roll​

    • Flam Accent

    • Single Ratamacue
