Do students perform outside of school?

Yes- the concert bands have one performance outside of school and that is LGPE. LGPE takes place in the month of March at the Carrollton County performing arts center. The directors will release information about LGPE early on in the semester.

How are students placed in ensembles?

Each student will be required to participate in a Class Placement audition, which typically takes place in the month of May. Students will be asked to play scales and an audition Etude. The scores will determine band class placement!

What concerts are required?

Every concert throughout the school year is required for students in the band program. Each concert counts as a summative grade towards each student's overall band grade.In the fall semester, we have 2 concerts- The fall Concert, and the Christmas Concert.In the spring semester, we have 3 concerts- Pre LGPE, LGPE, and the Spring Concert.

Can beginners join?

Yes! While prior middle school experience is always a plus- we have a place for beginners in our band program. Beginner musicians will start in our second block concert band class. We will then decide what instrument will fit best.

Question 5

What should students wear for performances?

Accepted Answer

We require students to wear concert black. Concert black is professional, all black clothing. Feminine options include: Knee Length Skirts/ Dresses. Long or short sleeved blouses, button ups, dress pants. Note: All dresses and skirts need to be met with black leggings or tights. Shoe options include- short heels, flats, all black professional shoe/ loafer.Masculine options include: Long Sleeved black button up. Dress Pants/ slacks. Shoe options include all black dress shoes/ loafers.

Are honor bands required?

They are not! We do highly encourage students to put themselves out there and audition for any honor band they are able to participate in.Honor band opportunities include District Honor Band, All State, and Paulding County Honor Band.
