The Paulding County High School Band Directors
Aaron Toft - Director
Mr. Aaron Toft joined the Paulding County High School Band Program as Director of Bands in 2016. Prior to serving as the Director at Paulding County, Mr. Toft was the Assistant Band Director at Hiram High School, served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Auburn University, and as Director of Bands at Manchester High School and Middle School in Manchester, Georgia.
Mr. Toft holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Auburn University. At the University of Kentucky, Mr. Toft studied under Dr. Skip Gray, Professor of Tuba and Euphonium. At Auburn University, Mr. Toft studied conducting under Director of Bands, Dr. Richard Good.
Mr. Toft’s performance experience includes performances with the University of Kentucky Symphonic Band, the Auburn University Symphonic Winds, the West Georgia Symphonic Winds, the Bob Barr Community Band, and the Sons of Jubal. Mr. Toft is a former member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford, IL and Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps. He has served on the staff of the Macy’s Great American Marching Band and has also served as a Director’s Track Assistant at the Music For All Summer Symposium. Mr. Toft’s professional affiliations include membership in the Georgia Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Educators, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Pi Kappa Lambda, and honorary membership in Kappa Kappa Psi.
Mr. Toft and his wife Molly currently reside in Acworth, Georgia with their daughter Emmalyn and their cat Harley.
Briana Curtis - Associate Director
Ms. Curtis joined the Paulding County High School Band Program as Assistant Director of Bands in 2019. Ms. Curtis graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelors in Music Education in May of 2019. She student taught at North Cobb High School and also was a technician with the marching bands at North Cobb High School, South Forsyth High School, East Paulding High School, and Adairsville High School where she aided with both the musical and visual programs.
Ms. Curtis has performed with the Kennesaw State University Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra on Bassoon and Contra-Bassoon, as well as the Kennesaw State University Wind Symphony on French Horn. Other performing experiences include marching with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in the 2018, and Alliance Drum and Bugle Corps in 2015. She served as head drum major at Alliance in 2016. Ms. Curtis also was a member of the East Paulding winterguard that earned a gold medal at the 2015 SAPA Championships.
Ms. Curtis is currently on the brass staff at Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps and Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps. Ms. Curtis’s professional affiliations include membership in the Georgia Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Educators.
Ms. Curtis currently resides in Dallas, Georgia with her family, their 3 dogs named Truffle, Wisdom and Shady, and her bunny rabbit named Potato.
